July Artist: Robert Richardson, Cartoonist and Artist

The Artifactory and Beadology are pleased to announce that our July artist for the Art In the Afternoon program will be  Cartoonist and Artist, Robert Richardson.  His presentation will be held at Beadology at 2 PM, on Sunday, July 17th.

Robert Yale Richardson, is retired from thirty-five years as the prepress manager for Tidewater Direct in West Branch, Iowa.

2004-05 he contributed a weekly editorial cartoon in the Iowa City Press Citizen under the name rytoonz.

2005-2012 Robert taught an evening class, “Cartooning for Beginners,” through the Coralville Parks and Recreation Department.
In retirement his focus is on painting and drawing with watercolors, pastels and ink.

June Artist: Tim Linden, Metalworker and Sculptor

The Artifactory and Beadology are pleased to announce that our June artist for the Art In the Afternoon program will be  Metalworker and Sculptor, Tim Linden.

tim_linden1Tim Linden is a local metalworker with over 35 years of experience in the industry. Tim worked as an exterior sheet metal fabricator for ASI Sheet Metal in North Liberty for 22 years.

Tim now owns and runs Tim Linden, Inc. pursuing his own sculptural work and providing metal fabrication to artists and architects in the area.

May Artist: Brian Lee, Architectural Furniture

b_lee_rBrian Lee is a registered architect, furniture designer and fabricator based in Iowa City, IA.

Brian produces interactive furniture that operates at the intersection of architecture, furniture, body-scale and urban-scale. He approaches his work as functional small scale experiments for larger architectural applications. A native Iowan, he holds a Master of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and has practiced in Iowa City since 2014.

April Artist: Thom Hall, Furniture Designer

The Artifactory and Beadology are pleased to announce that our April artist for the Art In the Afternoon program will be Thom Hall, furniture designer and master craftsman.  Thom resides in Mechanicsville, Iowa.  He says of himself:

‘I’m a Southeast Pennsylvania native and have lived in Eastern Iowa since the  early1970’s. I have earned a B.A. degree in Photography and Visual Arts from Franconia College, Franconia, NH.

When designing furniture, I look at it with a sculpture’s eye and I am happiest when working in a modern style.’
